This proposal and vision project was meant to satisfy several parameters. The challenge was to create a product that could be sold through a design site like Ponoko, address a problem, be incredibly efficient in terms of material use, and be fabricated through a CNC method. My proposal was the creation of a simple rib + notch lap desk for children named MIGO.
Under this proposal, the idea is that the desk would be distributed through toy company Tegu in Honduras, as part of their social entrepreneurship efforts. Aside from logistics of fabrication, a person can buy the lap desk and decide how a portion of the purchase is used: to plant trees, help educate children or donate a MIGO to a deserving child.
